SCI is the publisher of Prosit,
the quarterly magazine about beer steins.

From the SCI web-site:
Local chapters are the backbone of SCI, providing a means for collectors to get together several times a year to enjoy our favorite hobby. Meetings are planned and organized by the chapter and its members, and held either in a restaurant or in a member's home. While catering to the intensity of all collectors, the meetings are also social occasions to gather with friends, enjoy good food and drink, and to buy, sell, trade or simply examine fine steins, and spouses are an essential element. Many time there will be a speaker on a stein-related topic. Members are invited to bring steins to sell, or simply to discuss with other members. Each chapter establishes its own dues structure, and most have a set meeting fee which they collect to cover the cost of food and drink.

Beer Stein College is designed to be an adjunct to Stein Collectors International, not a competitor. Beer Stein College has no membershiop and no publications...Stein Collectors International conducts an annual convention with speakers and round tables, but most of the people are there to conduct association business, to socialize, visit local attractions and buy a couple of beer steins, good reasons all. However, there is a small group of members who want more in the way of an educational experience and less about the grandkids, or how good or poor the breakfast buffet was.
Beer Stein College gets together once a year, in different locations around the country andis designed to be an intensive learning experience eac and every time. Each two day session is attended by collectors who want to learn more abou ttheir hobby, or to share their knowledge and new discoveries with others. There are a lot of longstanding misconceptions about factories, their products and the people that operated them as those who attend sessions find out.
www.steincollege.com/index.htm "We believe that Beer Stein College is the most effective venue, that you will ever be able to attend, to learn about our hobby. No large crowds - usually about 40 or less. In fact, that is generally the cut off point for attendance. We want the participants to be up close and personal with the speakers and their subjects. "
